Hilbert Project - (28.25 inches x 36.50 inches)

Visual Concept

Full scale color drawing of the design gives the client the best representation of the final piece. The full scale drawing allows it to be placed in the final location to obtain size relationship with surroundings.

Production Begins

Each piece of glass is cut to size and edges are ground to fit the pattern exactly. Pins are placed between glass piece for proper spacing before taping edges with copper tape and soldered into place.

Final Assembly

Finished piece is assembled with a zinc frame, then a patina is applied to the solder and lightly rubbed to obtain a antique finish. The piece is then rinsed, dried and a coat of wax is applied to both sides.

Framed for delivery

A red oak frame was custom made with in-laid glass accents. The finished piece was attached to the frame with silicon sealer and allowed to dry 48 hours. The client was involved in various stages of the project and the frame shape was the client's idea.  Return to Custom Work >>
